A place where people and thoughts gather around the banyan tree, a symbol of happiness and prosperity. This is where Okinawa, which we have not yet met, begins.
GAJUMALU" is a space with the banyan tree, the symbolic tree of Okinawa, as its main icon, and is designed to create a scene in which happiness (consumers and vendors) gather there. The name "GAJUMALU" is simply beautiful with a pleasant sound, and it also expresses the hope that it will be a gateway to "rediscovering" Okinawa, where visitors can feel new charms no matter how many times they visit.
The symbolic trees installed are not mere decorations, but are also introduced with their origin, lore (kijimuna), and other stories, providing travelers with a deeper encounter with Okinawan culture.
A Friendly Place that Makes You Want to Stop.
Under the symbol tree is a relaxing space where nature, culture, and people of Okinawa intermingle. At the end of your trip, relax to your heart's content in this "indoor park" where you can encounter another Okinawa.
The banyan tree, a symbol of happiness and prosperity, is at the center of the design. Surrounded by greenery, the space is filled with a sense of ease, as if you can become one with nature even though you are in an airport.
The gently divided open booths resemble an indoor market. The distance between booths is exquisite, and the design allows visitors and vendors to engage in natural conversation.
